Triumphs, Honors, and New Expanded Support for Veterans
On May 9, 2024 Saber Six Foundation celebrated our advances towards creating Purpose, Belonging and Well-being with our veterans, Joey Comley, Larry Gonzales, Michael Klipstein, Christopher Koon, Matt Snow, Matthew Updike, and Gold Star widow Karen Pfeiffer at our second fundraising gala in Washington, D.C. They spoke of being better off with our programs and the importance of having one another in difficult times.
We were delighted to have esteemed guests: Former Speaker of the House Honorable Dick Gephardt and Former Secretary of Homeland Security Honorable Jeh Johnson gave a moving presentation. Margaret Brennan of CBS’ Face The Nation was our emcee for the evening.
All funds raised continue to support the efforts of our six signature programs dedicated to turning Post Traumatic Stress into Post Traumatic Growth.
We met up with the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery on May 10 in memory of our own SSG Ryan Fritsche. We joined the Fritsche family for the inaugural Ryan Fritsche Memorial 5K through the cemetery. Additionally, SSG Fritsche’s nieces and nephews laid a wreath on the Tomb in his memory. Thanks to BSN Sports for partnering with Saber Six Foundation and providing branded race shirts for all participants. After the wreath laying ceremony in Ryan’s memory, we were given a private tour of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the guards’ barracks beneath the tomb. We paid our respects at the grave of Tom Bostick and later, the Fife and Drum Corp regaled us with their delightful music.
Thanks to your investment in the Saber Six Foundation, we are able to bring our unit members together within hours to manage crises (versus days, weeks or not at all as it had been in the past).
“Toche is one of the best men I have ever met and one of the most loyal battle buddies to have next to you in any situation you coulda find yourself in. He will be missed by many” – Toche’s friend and Battle Buddy J.D.
Last week, tragically one of our unit members succumbed to a drug overdose. Our outreach team had been tracking this particular vulnerable paratrooper to find him and bring him aboard for support. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the Team, the trail had gone cold. Our hope is that with your continued support, we will be able to unlock further resources to reach every one of our vulnerable population.
To memorialize Toche Jackson and provide an outlet for other members to reminisce and process their thoughts over this sudden loss, our veteran outreach volunteer, Matt Snow put together a “Fiddler’s Green,” a Virtual Veteran Support group. It was attended by 30 members to honor Toche, their brother-in-arms.
